Maryann Philip-Shaibu Makes History with Back-to-Back Benin Golf Club Championship Wins

Hstory was made at the Benin Golf Club as Comrade (Mrs.) Maryann Philip-Shaibu emerged as the Ladies Overall Match Play Champion for the second consecutive year, securing the prestigious title for both the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 seasons.

With this remarkable achievement, Mrs. Philip-Shaibu becomes the first woman in the Benin Club Golf Section (BCGS) Ladies Division to clinch the Singles Match Play title in back-to-back victories, cementing her legacy as a dominant force in the sport.

Her triumph has been met with widespread acclaim, including congratulations from Ugoeze Sabina Chikere, Director General of the Edo State Sports Commission, who lauded her exceptional performance and dedication to the game.

She also received a heartfelt tribute from her husband, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, the former Deputy Governor of Edo State (2016-2024). In his congratulatory message, he praised her unwavering determination, resilience, and commitment to excellence, noting that her victory extends beyond the greens, serving as an inspiration to many.
