The President of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Amb. Sokubo Sara-Igbe Sokubo, has cautioned organizations and government agencies in Imo State against engaging with any faction of the NYCN that is not officially recognized by its national headquarters. He affirmed that only the council led by Barr. Ezinwanne Chimuanya Udoka is the legitimate representative of the NYCN in Imo State.
Amb. Sokubo made this statement during an interactive session with youths in the state following his attendance at the burial service of a family friend. He commended Governor Hope Uzodimma for his youth-friendly policies and ongoing developmental projects, particularly in infrastructure. He noted that the governor’s extensive road construction initiatives would enhance commercial activities and contribute to the state’s economic growth.
The NYCN President also appealed to Governor Uzodimma to expand opportunities for youth engagement in the state, emphasizing that such initiatives would foster economic prosperity, peace, security, and social stability.
Furthermore, Sokubo urged non-governmental organizations and stakeholders to collaborate exclusively with the NYCN leadership under Barr. Udoka, whom he described as the legitimate Chairman of the Imo State chapter. He warned youths in the state to be wary of individuals he labeled as impostors and fraudsters, accusing them of exploiting the platform for personal gain.
In response, the recognized Imo NYCN Chairman, Barr. Ezinwanne Chimuanya Udoka, welcomed the NYCN President to the state, assuring him of his commitment to uniting and mobilizing Imo youths in support of lawful activities and the Shared Prosperity administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma. He reaffirmed his dedication to fostering youth development and aligning with the policies of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The visit by the NYCN President is expected to strengthen the collaboration between the national leadership and the Imo State chapter, ensuring that youth programs and initiatives align with the vision of the organization at the national level.
