An elder statesman, Okenze Ezeji D.N Mbachu has demanded the creation of two party systems to save the country, Silvernews.com.ng reports.
In an open letter addressed to President Bola Tinubu, he said that the litany of political parties has caused more harm than good
He also proposed that the office of the President and National Assembly should be contested by two political parties adding that other elective positions should be contested on zero party.
“Kindly constitutionally scrape and abolish litany of political parties create two party systems with provision for independents.
“The political class has woefully failed this giant of Africa. Their dastard environment produced acrobats cluster of investors magicians and traders masquerading as politicians.
“Kindly use your good offices to save Nigeria by scrapping all registered political parties and cede their assets and movable property to Government.
“The offices of the President, and National Assembly Members are to be contested by two parties and independents. The offices of the Governor, Members of Houses of Assembly, Chairmen and Councillors are to be contested on zero party.
“By this, the Governor shall be really executive and no longer subjugated. This surely shall check wanton use of Federal might to support unpopular non performing Governor of its party and use the same Federal might to undermine a popular performing Governor of opposing party. Obviously this conforms with your agenda of renewed hope.”
