CHRISTINE SCIENCE SCHOOLS, WORLDBANK OWERRI LIFTED TROPHY FOR THE THIRD TIME
The grand finale of the competition was held at Model Primary School, worldbank, organized by grassroots football talent hunt giant Global Sports Nigeria for the 5th time in a row. Strictly for school students between the ages of 10yrs to 13yrs. Christine’s football team defeated Boys Model Secondary School, Worldbank by 2 – 0. First half goal came in the 30th minutes of play. And the second goal ( own goal) came in the 68th minute of the second half.
The competition started in September with 21 registered schools (private & public). The first finalist Christine Science Schools, played 9 matches without loss nor conceded any goal. Their finalist opponent Boys Secondary Worldbank could not withstand Christine’s samba-like nature of footballing.
It was gathered that the school is both education and football oriented – discovering talents in various sporting areas, which had made the school team successful overtime.
The General Manager of global sports had offered scholarships to ten best players spotted in the final day match.
Registration for another edition of grassroots football for schools in Owerri Municipal, will commence late October and final match to be in December – same day schools will vacate for the Christmas holiday.
