Chief Ray Nwachukwu has expressed delight to be honoured as one of the Ambassadors of Imo State Football Association.

Speaking with Silvernews.com.ng reports, Nwachukwu urged parents to throw their support behind their wards to compete in any sport, particularly football.

“I am extremely happy. I never expected it but all the same it’s good and progress. Football is a gold mine. If you have a son who is young, you better redirect them to play football.

“Back in the day, our parents used to punish us if we play football but today it’s a different ball game. If you have a son, you should encourage the person to play football in as much as you let them to be academically educated. It opens doors in universities by being a sports person.”

The Extraordinary Congress had in attendance the presence of former CAF Committee Member and immediate past Chairman of the Association, Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam.

Uchegbulam attended for the first time as Chairman Emeritus after stepping down from the position last year.

Also honoured with him at the Extraordinary Congress is a long time associate of the Vice Chairman of Association, Mr Reginald Odunze, Chairman Canaan Land, and Chief Francis Osuji, CEO Ikoromi Oils.

The Chairman of the Association, Barrister Ifeanyi Dike with his Vice-Chairman, Chief Obasi Sylvester

urged the recipients to keep supporting the Association in all their plans to reposition football in the State.
