All is now set for the 2nd edition of Imo State Basketball Holiday Programme for boys and girls from 9-18 years in the State.
According to Secretary of the Association, Mrs Obi Nkechi the holiday programme for the boys and girls will help the game Masters and Mistresses to learn the basic fundamentals of the game of basketball.
She said that it will enable them to impact the correct knowledge of basketball to the students when they go back to their schools and will be tutored by the state and national team coaches such as; Fubara Humphrey Onyanabo, who recently returned from national assignment with the Under 18 national team.
13th to 17th August, 2024 has been fixed for the programme, which will be held at the Imo State Basketball Court at the Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri from 9am to 1pm daily and supported by members of the Imo State Basketball Association.
Introducing the competition, National Basketball hero and a member of the Association, Ike Doubu said the competition will go a long way in the discovery of new basketball stars for the state and country.
The lion from the East as he is called by his supporters gave his full support to the association and believes that the game of basketball will one day become popular in the state like football with the collaboration of all stakeholders.
