Sports Minister John Enoh may have boasted that securing a 12 Billion Naira payout by President Bola Tinubu as one of his achievements in office, but players of the Super Eagles as well as other national teams have been far from impressed as they are yet to be paid outstanding allowances and bonuses this special fund was meant to take care of.

Instead of the main actors, the players, getting their dues, SCORENigeria has specially gathered that NFF board members as well as secretariat staff are the ones who have been paid their outstanding allowances from this intervention fund.

“It is a classic case of monkey dey work, baboon dey chop,” lamented a furious Super Eagles star.

Another angry player told SCORENigeria: “We may be forced to take the matter to President Tinubu because he approved this money for us, but instead it is other people who have so far benefited from it.”

The Super Eagles, for one, are owed bonuses and allowances running at least 25 matches.

Three match bonuses for 2023 AFCON qualifiers were cleared during the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire and thereafter they have not received any other payments.

The special fund also covered the Golden Eaglets, the Flying Eagles as well as the various women’s national teams.
