The Kanu Nwankwo U19 Inter-state Cup was yesterday unveiled and draws made for the 20 team inter state competition for Under 19 teams in Imo and Abia State.
The Inter-state Cup is named after former Super Eagles and three time Africa Footballer of the year, Kanu Nwankwo also known as Papilo the current chairman of Enyimba football club of Aba.
The tournament will fixture 10 teams from Imo state and 10 teams from Abia state. Speaking at the draws sponsor of the competition and Enyimba International of Aba sporting director, Ifeanyi Ekwueme said the competition will assist in the discover of young players in the two states.
He revealed that other retired Nigeria National team stars will be around to support the project.
Local Organizing Committee Chairman Uchechukwu Chalse Nwachukwu and Coach Chimeziri Martin ibeh of Parkat FC said the purpose of the tournament is to engage and expose the youthful players for development and discovery mission.
The competition will assist in the development of football in the two sister State.
The competition will kickoff in Aba Abia State on Tuesday.
