The Nigeria Women Football League Premiership heads into Matchday 11 this midweek and Rivers Angels will be in a crucial encounter with Delta Queens inside the mainbowl of the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium.
The Jewel of Rivers suffered huge defeat against Edo Queens in Benin last week and are hoping to return to winning ways on Wednesday.
Head Coach of Rivers Angels, Whyte Ogbonda says the encounter will be an interesting one and that his girls are in high spirit to give their beat.
Ogbonda also assured that he has been able to recover in time to correct the lapses from the last match against Edo Queens.
“Well, everybody is in high spirit. I will say that the players are ready for the match against Delta Queens on Wednesday,” Ogbonna told Rivers Angels media.
“We have been able to correct the mistakes discovered in the match against Edo Queens, starting from the defence to the attack.”
“We had a lot of goal scoring chances in the match against Edo Queens that the attackers squandered but we have tried to correct it so that whenever they have the chances, they can utilize it.”
Coach Ogbonda emphasised that his team style of play is attacking football and the approach ahead of the match against Delta Queens won’t change.
“Rivers Angels supporters should expect 100% attacking football against Delta Queens on Wednesday,” he added.
Also speaking ahead of Wednesday’s game is Rivers Angels defender, Joy Micheal who expressed readiness for the match, is optimistic her side will claim victory over her former club Delta Queens.
Joy Micheal also expressed her disappointment as a defender to have leaked in four goals against Edo Queens but assured that it won’t repeat against Delta Queens.
“We are ready, we are fully ready. After the last game in Benin, we have corrected ourselves, the mistakes and the coach has corrected us and we are ready for the game against Delta Queens,” Michael said.
“It was a tough one for us, we were not happy to have conceded four goals but I believe we would do better in the next game. We have corrected the mistakes, nobody is perfect but as defenders, we would try our best.
“We are winning because it’s my former team, so it’s a must win for me. We are winning three nil on Wednesday.”
Delta Queens won two nil in the reverse fixture in Asaba during the first leg meeting in the first stanza of the current season.
