…Beckons on Imo Governor for financial assistance to take care of injured member
Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Imo Chapter has called on the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Aboki Danjuma to as a matter of priority investigate the remote and the immediate cause of the hit and run driver that rammed into one of their members, Cosmos Chukwuemeka on the evening of Wednesday 6th March, 2024.
Chukwuemeka said he was knocked down by one way crazy suspected bus Imo driver which left him in unconscious state and his phone was also snatched away.
The Sports Journalist reported that he was waiting for a bus to return home after his programme on the fateful when he was hit by a mini bus called Bus Imo opposite their office, Darling FM along Wetheral Road, Owerri adding that the bus driver zoomed off Immediately he was hit.
He informed that he was rushed to ST. David’s Hospital Ikenegbu by good Samaritans in his unconscious state before he was revived and started treatment.
Chukwuemeka, who emerged as the Governor Hope Uzodinma Media Merit Award as the Best Sports Journalist Imo State in 2022, has gone for head x-ray, heart and other vital organs due to the impact of the accident and Imo SWAN feels it is germane that the Imo State Police Command should as a matter of exigency, wade into the issue so as to ascertain the mission of the hit and run Bus Imo driver.
The Chairman Imo SWAN, Everest Ezihe expressed his sadness at the development and he said: “it is important for the Nigerian Police to do all within their powers to fish out the person or persons behind the attack, “it’s our desire that the management of Darling FM, Owerri should take adequate medical care of their revered Staff and Imo State Police Command to hasten actions so that the culprit will be arrested to face the full wraths of the law.
“It was an unfortunate incidence and all hands must be on deck to ensure that Cosmos Chukwuemeka gets the best medical attention and those behind it be caught to face the music of their action.”
The body further disclosed that it’s not pleased with the current health situation of Cosmos Chukwuemeka and as such is beckoning on Sports loving Imo State Governor, His Excellency, Hope Uzodinma for financial assistance to enable our injured member to properly take care of his health pay accumulated hospital bills.
