Abia Comets FC centre back, Uche Okoro has expressed the team’s readiness ahead of this weekend’s Matchday 13 clash against Calabar based club, Rovers FC, on Saturday, at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
Comets secured a vital 2-1 away victory last Sunday over Vandrezzer FC to open the second stanza on a bright note for their second away win of the campaign.
The team is currently on a seven games unbeaten streak and has produced one of the best defensive performances among all the Southern Conference teams in the group, grinning 18 points in 12 games after the last victory over Vandrezzer FC on Sunday in Uyo.
Speaking with the Abia Comets media, shortly after the team training session, at the Umuahia Township Stadium, on Thursday morning, Uche revealed that the team is in a high spirit ahead of the clash against Rovers FC.
“Yes, The spirit in the camp has been massive and if you look at the team right now, you could see that the confidence is high. Because everybody is working hard for the team to improve more even as we are on a good run of form.
“However, we are going to do our best to secure the maximum points on Saturday. It is not going to be an easy game but we are capable of producing a solid performance.”
The Enugu-born young defender further explained that him and his team knows what is at stake and they won’t disappoint the Abia Comets Supporters on Saturday.
“We truly appreciate our supporters, who has showed us great support this season. We know what is at stake and we are not going to disappoint on Saturday. We’ll do our best to gain all maximum points,” he concluded.
A victory for Comets will move the team up to top three in the Southern Conference A log.
