David Omenukor Foundation has mapped out plans to join the rest of the world to mark the 2024 Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in Mbaise.

The Foundation is organizing a Blue-Hat & Bow tie cancer awareness campaign on the 15th of March in Nigeria in partnership with the Global Colon Cancer Association at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Secondary School, Enyiogugu Aboh Mbaise in Imo State.

Recall that people from all walks of life unite every March to fight one of the greatest enemies of mankind Colorectal Cancer.

This is because March is designated as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, during which governments, organizations, and public spirited individuals unite to fight against this deadly disease that has kept humanity in tears.

According to the American Cancer Society, January 17th, 2024 updated statistics, about 152,880 cases of Colorectal cancer comprising 83,540 men and 71,270 women are expected to be victims of Colorectal Cancer cancer this year with about 53,010 deaths.

The number of deaths has been dropping since 2011 due to early screenings and changes in lifestyle related risk factors especially among the older adults but sadly the rate among the younger adults is increasing by 2% and the victims are our kids.

Colorectal cancer remains the third most important cause of death and affects both men, women, and children. However, it is treatable curable and preventable if you detect it early, which is the main objective of screenings.

David Omenukor Foundation has been fighting this battle over the years, and now it’s taking the fight to the younger adults as the demographics are shifting against them.

Consequently, the foundation has now taken the challenge to save our young ones from the scourge of cancer and have been engaging with the youths in the schools and churches to creating awareness and educating them on the importance of lifestyles changes that increases risk of Colorectactal cancer.

The foundation is seeking that the kids are in attendance and support the foundation in whatever form they can through: davidomenukorfoundation.org.
