Matilda Otuene-Onyiloha, General Manager, Rivers Angels Football Club, on behalf of the management, players and technical crew has congratulated Rivers United on their qualification to the quarter finals stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Speaking after the Port Harcourt-based side defeated Dreams FC of Ghana on Sunday to qualify , Mrs Onyiloha commended the outstanding display of the players and their never say die spirit throughout the competition which has taken them into the knockout stage.
“We are very excited by the performance of Rivers United in the CAF Confederation Cup. This is not the first time they have reached this stage of the competition. They were able to overcome all the hurdles to get to the quarterfinals.
Mrs Onyiloha also poured econoium on the number one citizen of Rivers State, Governor Sim Fubara and the Commissioner of Sports, Barri. Chris Green for the support given to Rivers United to fly high in the competition.
“We appreciate our sports loving governor, Governor Sim Fubara, our hardworking and goal getter Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Barr. Chris Green for their full support to Rivers United which has enabled the team to be the envy of other teams in Nigeria”.
