Imo Lawmaker, Amuchie Blows Hot, Calls For Installation of CCTv Cameras in Hotels, Event Centres

Less than two months after his Inauguration as a member of Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Princewill Amuchie of Aboh Mbaise state constituency has taken a critical look at the ever-rising rate of crimes nationwide with a call on Imo state government to direct all hotels, event centres and other privately owned places of public attraction to install as a matter of necessity, close circuit television(CCTv) cameras in such commercial buildings across the state.
In a high-profile motion at the floor of the house of assembly, Hon Amuchie charged the legislative house to persuade the state government under the watch of Senator Hope Uzodimma to direct all hotels operating within the state to be actively involved in the ongoing war against crimes.
According to Princewill Amuchie, CCTv cameras are a device that could help security operatives in crime detection and unravelling mysterious incidents of crime in hotels and homes.
The lawmaker pointed out that under a bizzare or mysterious situation, there could be a case of mistaken identity which ordinarily, would have been ascertained with CCTv camera footages.
He expressed the view that hotels operating without functional CCTVs could be safe grounds for commission of crimes.
Hon Amuchie argued that hotels being the first point of call for visitors, tourists and fun seekers, government should ensure that no hotel in the state operates without functional cameras for crime detection and prevention.
Applauding Governor Hope Uzodimma, the Imo state chief executive for providing good roads and sustaining vigorous fight against crimes, a situation that gave rise to the springing up of many hotels and event centres in the state, the member for Aboh Mbaise state constituency posited that the hoteliers should be strong players in the war against crimes as according to him, crime is an ill wind that could blow to any direction.
