The NPFL U-17 Youth League took the off-day on Friday to lecture players from the five teams in Benin on the need to be dedicated and disciplined.
NPFL Chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye officially unveiled the quartet of Austin Eguavoen, Seyi Olofinjana, Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Patrick Pascal who immediately swung into action by teaching the players on what it takes to become professionals.
Yakubu Aiyegbeni harped on the importance of dedication and discipline if one wants to go far in life.
Seyi Olofinjana in his words advised the boys to put in more efforts if they truly love to play the game, not just as footballers, even as a bricklayer, farmer, shoemakers etc.
“Players have to sacrifice a whole lot in other to get to the very top of world football.”
Seyi went on to reveal that Nigerians waste talents as there are no consistency in terms of training and competitions.
The ex Wolverhampton Wanderers star rounded off by saying that most young players are from poor family background which should serve as motivation to push the boys to fight to change their family stories.
The NPFL U-17 Youth League concludes with the final games on Saturday with Rivers United facing Katsina United while the game between Remo Stars and Enugu Rangers will climax the playoffs at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.
