Ibom Angels FC of Uyo has made it to the Semi-final of the first lady’s female football Competition with goals from Ugobest Osuji and Abasiofon Uwah helped to retain Ibom Angels FC in the ongoing First Lady’s female football competition in Calabar.
The match was played at the main bowl of U. J. Esuene stadium .
A powerful header by Ugobest Osuji at the 80th minute, which followed a corner kick, was the opening goal for the Orange Ladies in the encounter.
At the 82nd minute, with the assistance of Ugobest Osuji, Abasiofon Uwah added another goal therefore keeping the scoreline at 2-0
Recall that Ibom Angels FC lost her first game to Unical Malabresses by a goal to nil on Monday.
The Orange Ladies are on break, to resume on Friday against either Imo Strikers FC or Pelican Stars FC in the semi finals.
Ibom Angels FC is in group B alongside Unical Malabresses and Obubra Queens FC , while group A is made up of Pelican Stars, Imo Strikers and Nkor Academy.
Reacting to his team’s performance at the tournament, coach Edwin Okon expressed happiness with the girls’ performance especially in the second game, hoping for the team to improve in subsequence matches.
“It’s a new team, not yet ripe for anything. By God’s grace we’re in the semi finals, thank God for the position we’ve found ourselves. We’ve improved in our last game over the first, and targeting to improve more in our next game.” said Edwin Okon.
