2023 AFCON: Raji Kayode Backs Super Eagles To Beat Cameroon

The Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Ondo State Command, Raji Kayode has backed the Super Eagles to beat Cameroon at the 2023 AFCON, reports.

The Super Eagles will confront Cameroon in the Round of 16 on Saturday at the Stade Félix Houphouët-Boigny.

According to Kayode, the Super Eagles midfielders should step up their game to ensure that the attackers get the desired services to score.

While urging them to demonstrate passion and commitment during the crunch encounter, he noted that there is no need to press the panic button yet.

His words: “I was impressed with what they did against Cote d’Ivoire but during the game with Equatorial Guinea, they did well just that we did not as much we should do. For me a team that miss basket of chances is not yet a problem. There is no need to press the panic button yet.

“I’m concerned with a team that does not create chances at all. Against Equatorial Guinea, we created a lot chances but we didn’t convert them but there is hope we could do better and in our last matches, we did not bad.

“In all these, I see a situation where there is no midfield. The passion and commitment, I saw it only among the defenders. I have not seen the same passion from the midfielders to the attackers.

“Overall, there is still need for them to do more, particularly the midfield. Victor Osimhen has been starve of pases and for every striker, passes are like oxygen that he needs to breath.

“I hope they will overcome Cameroon because the team I saw are nothing. What use to propel them was their determination and will to succeed. That has always been their strong point but in this competition, they never displayed such skills expect in their last match.

“I feel that skill for skill, they cannot match us. What we just need is the determination to succeed. That Nigeria factor should be present on Saturday and if that is present, I’m sure we would carry the day.”
