Head Coach of Heartland FC, Christian Obi said that he is building a formidable side that will be a force to reckon with in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League season, Wakawaka Sports Extra reports.
Speaking with journalists shortly after a pulsating game with Lobi Stars that ended 2-2 at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, Obi noted that his team is still a work in progress.
According to Obi, he expected the game to be a tough one adding that his second half substitutions were pivotal in ensuring his team shared the spoils against the Pride of Benue.
His words: “The game is just starting. No club will say I will be on top. Every club wants to be on top but the time to say this will club will make has not come. We are building and the team is work in progress. You will see the better part of this team, two, three, four matches.
“We expected it to be tough game. The team I played was a good team. It’s just that it went the way it went. If you watch the game you will discover that they know what they want to do but the team I have is a good team.
“There are players that come in the second half and they do well. Players differ and it’s left for us the coaches to know when to bring in player to change the narration.
“Ezekiel Bassey is an experienced player and if you watch my games from the NNL till now, I don’t change anyhow and when I change you will see the effect.
“Today is not his day and he was the best goal keeper of the NNL last season. That will not take the fact that he is a good goal keeper.”
