Sporting Lagos sensational wing back Emmanuel Nwokeji has revealed why he did not celebrate his two goals against his former team, Heartland FC of Owerri at the Value Jet preseason tournament at Ikenne Ogun State.
The Taye Academy product, who scored two goals against his former club from the spot told Wakawaka Sports Extra that his respect for the club that gave him the breakthrough in the football industry was behind the reaction.
Nwokeji recalled when he joined the club by securing promotion back to the premier league after they were relegated for the first time in the history of the club under the leadership of Coach Ramson Madu.
According to him, they were sent to Enugu in an exchange program from where he left the club only to return to train with the team last year before joining Sporting Lagos.
Taye, as he is called by his fans, said despite his past experiences with the team, he will keep respecting the team adding that his dream this coming football season is for Sporting Lagos to perform credibly well and win a spot in the Africa football Competition.
Nwokeji leads the goal-scoring chart at the competition with two goals after match day two of the pre season competition.
