The recent Labour Party Governorship Primary Election in Imo State has come and gone, but the outcome of that exercise doesn’t conform to the “New Nigeria” mantra of the party and must not stand!
If this outcome is allowed to stand on multiple legs of vote buying, dirty political horse-trading, and manipulations, we can as well hail the APC.
The leadership of the Labour Party must send a very strong message that politicians who import the ills that cripple Nigeria into the critical affairs of the party are on their own.
Earlier on, we endorsed Gen. Ogunewe as the fit and proper candidate for Imo State at this material time and we stand by that endorsement.
Imolites and indeed Obidients in Imo State deserve a decent, honest, and experienced “combatant” to face the terroristic Hope Uzodinma in the November 2023 election.
We note with emphasis that Gen. Ogunewe was not involved in any political shenanigans to garner the votes and strong support of both Imolites and party delegates.
The Imo Diaspora Coalition for Justice and Democracy (IDCJD) calls on the leadership of the Labour Party to rely on all existing powers of the party to return Gen. Lincoln Ogunewe as the authentic Gubernatorial flag bearer of the Labour Party in Imo State.
The IDCJD is the premier, US-based Civil Society Organization of Imo State citizens, established to promote good governance, protect the civil, human, religious and cultural rights of Imolites across the world
