Sports parenting have been identified as that which will help parents ,caregivers and guardians to build resilience amongst young minds towards joining unlawful societies (Cultism) and other social vices through the use of sports.According to the National Coordinator POCACOV CSP Ebere Amaraizu,it is a conscious and deliberate efforts in line with the community based crime prevention framework of the Nigeria Police Force on problem solving.POCACOV is collaborating with ASTRIC an organization known for human capital development to fill in the gap and address challenges created by the advent of industrial revolution and digital age on parenting and Adult guidance .There are issues of parenting challenge which also has been made worse by parental neglect and oftentimes ,a contributory factor responsible for young minds entrants into unlawful societies(CULTISM ) and other vices as experienced especially during the long vacation period.
POCACOV/ASTRIC U15 Boys and Girls Long Vacation football trial tagged “OUR CHILDREN MUST THRIVE” taking place in Enugu beginning from 27th August,2022 to 5th September 2022 is a 10 day community oriented policing activity targeted at supporting parents to navigate from the methods of enforcement of consequences to focusing on helping children grow from their mistakes thereby practicing support and encouragement.Parents ,guardians and caregivers are role models to their children and as such the children look up to them for care,support and encouragement and these are the elements in SPORTS PARENTING.POCACOV /ASTRIC U15 Long Vacation Football Trials for Boys and Girls will be beneficial to Families,Schools and communities and will be implemented in 36 states of the federation including the federal capital territory.It will help in building the family and making it to return to what it used to be as young boys and girls will strategic planning and leadership direction,creative thinking ,integrity,modesty,sportsmanship,fair play,excellence,Respect ,friendship and the spirit of never to give up using the instrumentality of sports.They will also be exposed to tenets of Olympic Sports Education and Olympic Value amongst other things and which will help them as future leaders and for a greater society.
