Heartland FC goalkeeper and Nigeria International, Ikechukwu Ezenwa has rated high, the just concluded first stanza of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Ezenwa showered encomiums on club’s winning away from home noting that it has improved the standard of the league.
He however bemoaned club’s who terminate players contract without engaging them on a round table discussion.
Ezenwa appealed to the league orgnisers to wade into the matter to ensure strict adherence to players agreement in their contract papers.
“I think the season has been wonderful, good results, team winning away games. It shows that there is improvement in the league.
“I’m only worried about the way some clubs dismiss players on contract. I think this one place LMC needs to put an eye on because it’s so uncalled for.
“A player under contract will be relieved of his job without a roundtable meeting. It’s something that demoralize other players when they hear such.
“The LMC should come into this matter to make sure that things go well in the league because if you check the away scoring, there is improvement unlike before and away wins.”
Ezenwa went further to praise his former boss, Fidelis Ilechukwu, for his giant strides at Plateau United saying that he gave his best during his time at Heartland FC.
“I’m happy for Fidelis Ilechukwu. He took the bold step to Plateau United and today they are doing very well in the league, second on the table. All I have to do is to wish him the best.
“Then in Heartland, there was so much issues that not every coach can carry such a burden. A man like Ilechukwu, he did everything possible to make sure Heartland didn’t go on relegation last season. He tried to put the house together. Every man has his own decision to take. Kudos to him.”
On his decision to acquire a degree in a higher institution, he believes that its a step in the right direction.
“I’m an literate and I took that decision to finish my degree with all glory to God. I believe its the right decision.”
