2022 WCQ: Super Eagles gets redemption as they defeat CAR 0-2 in reverse fixture

Super Eagles of Nigeria got their redemption at the world cup qualifiers reverse fixture, as they defeat Central African Republic 2-0 in the reverse fixture held in Douala on Sunday October 10th, the Statesman sports desk reports.

The 3 time African Champions didn’t hesitate to get their own pound of flesh after an unfortunate defeat by Central African Republic in Lagos as they got down straight to business at the sound of the kickoff whistle.

The Super Eagles mounted pressure on the host team but it took 29 mins into the first half before they were able to break the deadlock from a solid defensive CAR team.

Leon Balogun opened scoring for the Eagles with a brilliant finish in the 30th of the game.

While Napoli forward Victor Osimhen increased the tally at the stroke of half time with another finish.

2-0 it ended in favour of the Nigerian side as efforts from Osimhen and Ejuke in the second half to secure a 3rd goal proved fruitless.

Super Eagles has now maintained the top spot on the table as they extend their lead with 9 points with two more matches to go while CAR retain the 3rd spot.
