The Board of Trustees (BOT) Chairman of World Igbo Peoples Assembly (WIPAS) and immediate past spokesman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo world wide Chuks Ibegbu has declared that Ndigbo have the largest stake in Nigeria and will not leave it for anybodyI.
Ibegbu noted that Igbo nationalists led the independence struggle for Nigeria, adding that the nation owes a lot of debt to Ndigbo, especially on political, structural and infrastructural fronts.
He called on politicians from other zones nursing presidential ambitions to think twice in the interest of Nigeria.
Ibegbu noted that what Ndigbo need now is not physical Biafran but Biafra of the mind. “Let us use the Biafran spirit to develop Igbo land and even Nigeria”, he noted.
According to him, a physical Biafra can only happen if Ndigbo are pushed to the wall as it happened in the past but hopes it will not happen again.
The BOT Chairman of World Igbo Peoples Assembly querried the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi for abandoning the Port Harcourt rail line and failure to site any federal transport project in the East.
He called for creation of additional states in South East, noting that the zone loses more than two trillion Naira annualy for having the least number of states and local governments in Nigeria.
On Ohanaeze Ndigbo post election crisis and its possible effect on Igbo Presidency project, Ibegbu noted that conflicts are features of life, adding that conflicts in Afenifere or Arewa in the past did not make them not to produce Presidents.
“Why should our own be different. After elections all over the world there are grievances and protests. Its normal. I was a candidate in that election and we shall not allow heavens to fall. We shall resolve it soon”, Ibegbu noted.
He called on all the political parties to zone their 2023 Presidency to Igbo land and South East in particular.
Continuing, Ibegbu noted that WIPAS has set up a committee to find out why the resurgence in the conflict between Aguleri and Umuleri, expressing hope that Ohanaeze will do same when its post election conflict is finally resolved.
