Christmas: Victoria Jacks Foundation Put Smiles on Faces of Children in Orphanage Home

A non-governmental-organisation, Victoria Jacks Foundation, dedicated to lending helping hands to the less-privileged, on Christmas day, celebrated with children in the orphanage home.

 

The Foundation, established in March 31st 2018 organized an outreach for children at Lifetime Orphanage Home in Port Harcourt, Rivers State to celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December, 2024.

 

No fewer than 50 children benefitted from the outreach which featured donation of food items, toiletries, provisions and clothes.

 

The event also witnessed games with the children and cutting of cake to celebrate Christmas in a grand style.

Speaking with newsmen, Founder of Victoria Jacks Foundation, Victoria Jackson said the Foundation was established to create a lasting impact on the lives of the less privileged in the society.

 

According to her, the mission statement of the Foundation is to give back to the society, advocate for domestic violence victims, give succour to the less privileged and put smiles on the faces of those in distress.

While calling on well-meaning Nigerians to partner with the Foundation in helping the vulnerable people, she revealed that the target in 2025 is to reach out to more orphanage homes and beyond, food drive for at least 100 children, embark on school project, among others.

United Brothers Club honours individuals for distinguished contributions to society

The United Brothers Club (a.k.a Eternal) has bestowed honourary awards on distinguished individuals who have contributed immeasurably to the growth of the club and society at large..

The occasion held inside the ultra-modern club headquarters, Obama community Abakaliki, was full of pomp, pageantry, thrills, and the highest form of conviviality.

The occasion which served as an opportunity for stock-taking, gauging of accomplishments and attestation of the unblemished and pragmatic leadership of the club”s president, Hon. Charles Akpu-enika, a.k.a Game Changer.

Six individuals who have contributed immensely to the growth of the club and are also members of the club received Honourary Personality of the Year awards for accomplishments in various spheres of the society.

Hon. Chief Sunday Inyima (Agbalagba) the Ebonyi State Commissioner for Capital City Development was honoured with an Outstanding Personality Of the Year Award in Humanitarian Care.

Barr. Emeka Anosike: Secretary of the Club and that of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Ebonyi State Branch was honoured with an Outstanding Personality Award in Selfless Service while Scientist Basil Onyejeme was honoured with an Outstanding Personality Of The Year Award in Uncommon Commitment to Duty.

Deacon Samuel Uguru was honoured with an Outstanding Personality Of The Year Award in Project Delivery while Mr Ikenna Okolie was honoured with an Outstanding Personality The Year Award in Membership Mobilisation.

Hon. Vincent Ehiri was honoured with an Outstanding Personality Award in Project Delivery as the club also honoured individuals who selflessly assisted it with funds to purchase land in 2021 for the construction of its headquarters among others forms of assistance.

Mr. John Okereke, Dr. Kelechi Okezie, Mr. Uche Nwosu, Mr. Nnamdi Okoye, Hon. Felix Okemini, Prince Chinedu Okeke, Mr. Sunday Egemba, Mr. Iyke Okafor, Engr. Gabriel Uzoigwe and the State Commissioner for Works Engr. Hon. Lebechi Mbam, also fall into this category.

The club’s President, Charles Akpu-enika said the occasion which served as its end of the year gathering, was an opportunity to take stock of its activities for the year.

“I foremostly thank God for keeping members of this club to see another end of the year as it is his grace and mercy that kept us.

“The motto of this club is one love and this eternal virtue has kept us going and surmounting challenges that came our way,”.

He noted that the club attained several feats in outgoing year chiefly the hosting of its iiri ji (new yam) festival inside its edific-ial headquarters, enlargement of its membership among others.

“Construction of the club ‘s headquarters is almost completed and the members have been tremendous in seeing to its completion.

“We are happy with our members in various positions in government as they have been of immense to the club and have been worthy ambassadors in the state and national affairs.

The club president also commended Gov. Francis Nwifuru for this developmental strides in various spheres of the state and pledged its unalloyed support to his administration.

Chief Sunday Inyima, an Awardee and Commissioner for Capital City Development, thanked the club for bestowing the award on he and others, pledging that it will spur them towards greater service to the club.

“The unity among the members is unparalleled and this has brought unquantifiable development to it.

“I also commend the president for his leadership sagacity and urge him to continue leading the association aright,”

Barr Emeka Anosike, the Secretary of club said that the executive will re-double its efforts in ensuring the club waxes stronger and attains greater heights.

“We have every cause to thank God this year as the unity among us has propelled us to greater heights.

Members took turns to express their gratitude over coming together in celebration and pledged to co-operate with the club’s leadership to attain all set goals.

Governor Uzodinma Expands Football Talent Hunt to Omuma Community

The ancient Omuma community came alive this December as the 2024 edition of the Omuma Unity Cup officially kicked off. The tournament, aimed at fostering unity and promoting grassroots football, is sponsored by the Prince Jeff Ukachukwu Foundation. Teams participating in the competition are drawn from across the old Omuma community, emphasizing its theme of unity and talent development.

Governor Hope Uzodinma, represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Obinna Onyeocha, performed the ceremonial kick-off. This initiative aligns with the governor’s commitment to sports development in Imo State. The event follows the governor’s recent donation of three brand-new buses to the Heartland Football Club and Heartland Queens of Owerri, reinforcing his promise to support football growth in the state.

The kick-off ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Dr. Emeka Mandela, Commissioner for Youths and Talents Development; Dr. Chimezie Amadi, Commissioner for Digital Economy and E-Government; Mr. Bobby Michaels, SA on Entertainment; and Hon. The chairman of Water FC, who chose to spend the holiday season in the United Kingdom, offered heartfelt prayers for the talented forward.

 

Makanjuola, often referred to as MK, described his visit to Awoniyi’s impressive residence as unforgettable.

FUTO’s Best Graduating Female Student, Amaraizu Mmesoma, Appointed Ambassador for Mental Health Foundation

Amaraizu Mmesoma, the Overall Best Graduating Female Student of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), has been recognized for her remarkable academic achievements and appointed an Ambassador to the Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation.

This announcement was made during the Foundation’s annual review meeting on Friday, December 20, 2024, where action plans for 2024 and 2025 were discussed. Mrs. Uzoamaka Nwachukwu, a certified Child Psychologist, Emotional Intelligence Life Coach, and Co-Founder of the Foundation, commended Mmesoma’s outstanding accomplishments during the recently concluded FUTO convocation ceremony on December 6, 2024.

Mmesoma graduated with first-class honors in Mechanical Engineering, achieving a stellar CGPA of 4.73 on a 5.0 scale. She also received multiple awards, including the Overall Best Graduating Female Student Award, Best Graduating Female Student in the Faculty of Engineering, and Best Graduating Student in Mechanical Engineering. In total, she earned five undergraduate awards, solidifying her position as a trailblazer in academic excellence.

Mrs. Nwachukwu praised Mmesoma’s resilience and dedication, describing her achievements as an inspiration for young girls and women across Nigeria. “We are proud to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of Mmesoma Amaraizu, whose success is a testament to her discipline and determination. Her achievements serve as a motivation for female students to strive for excellence in academics and beyond,” she said.

The Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation emphasized Mmesoma’s new role as an ambassador, highlighting her responsibility to inspire younger individuals, particularly girls, to break barriers in academics and other fields.

Chief Sir Barr. OAU Onyema, an Advisor to the Foundation and Principal at Akpaga Ikenga Chambers, lauded Mmesoma as a role model capable of positively influencing society. “Her intelligence, articulation, and brilliance are qualities that inspire pride. She represents a beacon of hope and achievement for young females nationwide,” Onyema remarked.

In her acceptance speech, Mmesoma expressed gratitude to God for His grace and thanked her parents for their unwavering support and guidance. She credited her success to discipline, determination, and dedication, while also acknowledging the contributions of her siblings and friends. “I am deeply honored to serve as an ambassador for Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation. I hope to inspire others to achieve their goals while prioritizing their mental well-being,” she said.

The event concluded with renewed commitments from the Foundation to promote mental health awareness and empower individuals to excel in their respective fields.
