Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Adeboye Anthony Adeyinka, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as the administration’s commitment to the development of sports in Nigeria.
Adeyinka, while speaking on the Federal Government’s sports initiatives, said President Tinubu had demonstrated passion and genuine interest in the growth of sports and the welfare of Nigerian athletes.
He said, “Let us first appreciate Almighty God for giving us a man that has love, passion and interest in sports development, and not only sports development but the development of our great country.”
The presidential aide noted that the administration had shown a commitment to fulfilling promises made to Nigerian athletes and other stakeholders.
“This is the first time in this country that we are seeing a president fulfilling his promises within a year. It has never happened before,” he said.
Adeyinka also commended the administration over what he described as increased funding for sports and improved attention to the welfare and reward of athletes.
He said the President had also demonstrated his commitment to repositioning Nigerian sports through the appointment of experienced sports administrators and stakeholders.
“This is a man that has introduced, for the first time, administrators and stakeholders who understand sports, who know sports and who can read sports, to come and govern and manage sporting activities in this country,” Adeyinka stated.
He mentioned the contributions of sports administrators, including Shehu Dikko and Bukola Olapade and Philip shaibu
among others, saying their experience would contribute to the development of the sector.
Adeyinka also described his appointment as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development as an indication of the administration’s desire to give greater attention to grassroots sports.
He called on Nigerians to continue supporting and praying for the President, saying his administration could achieve more in the sports sector.
“For me, let us continue to pray for this man to give us the best, nothing but the best. He has been doing it, and Almighty God will provide for him to do more than what he is doing,” he said.
