Warri Wolves FC Faces NANPF Petition Over Unpaid Player Entitlements and Alleged Intimidation

The National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers (NANPF) has formally petitioned Warri Wolves Football Club over allegations of unpaid contractual entitlements and claims of intimidation against players seeking redress. In a letter addressed to the club’s secretary, NANPF said it had received a petition from Mr Aminu Yusuf, the authorized agent of player Ezekiel Oroh and other affected players, citing breaches of contract and alleged misconduct involving Mr. Paul Ojo.

The union expressed concern over the club’s failure to pay outstanding financial obligations and its alleged obstruction of players’ attempts to pursue complaints before the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). NANPF requested Warri Wolves to clarify the contractual status of the players, the circumstances surrounding their clearances, and the reasons for failing to respond to earlier demands.

Specific allegations against Mr. Ojo include claims of interference, intimidation, and pressure on players to withdraw petitions before the NFF as a condition for processing international transfer documentation. NANPF asked the club to confirm whether Mr. Ojo has any official or unofficial role in dealings with the affected players and whether management was aware of attempts to obstruct hearings before the NFF Players’ Status and Arbitration Committee.

The union highlighted Oroh’s potential opportunity with a Polish club as particularly urgent, urging Warri Wolves to clarify its position on his clearance, outstanding entitlements, and international transfer documentation. NANPF stressed that while no final findings have been made, the allegations raise serious concerns about respect for players’ rights to demand payment and seek redress.

Warri Wolves FC has been given seven days to submit a comprehensive written response addressing both the alleged refusal to pay entitlements and the claims of intimidation. NANPF emphasized that the matter must be treated with the seriousness it deserves, underscoring the importance of protecting players’ welfare and contractual rights in Nigerian football.
