It was a carnival of colours and joy on Saturday in Ikwuano, Umuahia Local Government Area of Abia State, as veteran sports journalist, Mr. Raymond Akparhuere, tied the knot with Onyeyechi Okeiyi in a traditional wedding ceremony that attracted families, friends and well-wishers from Delta and Abia States.
The ceremony united both families in a vibrant display of culture and festivity.
Guests from the local community, associates and admirers gathered at the Ukiyi Compound, Umuahia, to witness the joyous occasion.
In line with tradition, the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chukwuemeka Okeiyi, formally handed over their daughter to the groom, a symbolic moment that drew applause and admiration from the gathering.
In an emotional remark, the bride’s elder brother, Emeka Okeiyi, a former footballer, expressed gratitude to God for the successful union and prayed for a life filled with love, peace and prosperity for the couple.
The event also attracted notable personalities from the sports community, including Mr. Kennedy Onwunali, Secretary of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Southeast Zone, alongside other football stakeholders and enthusiasts across the region.
The colourful celebration reflected a rich blend of tradition, unity and community spirit, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the lives of Mr. Raymond Akparhuere and Onyeyechi Okeiyi.
