A UK-based diaspora organisation, Ahiazu Mbaise Progressive Community Limited (AMPCUK), has donated ₦1 million to support a Nigerian woman, Mrs. Rosemary Chioma Ndukanma, who recently gave birth to conjoined twins.
The donation, made in the spirit of compassion and communal responsibility, is aimed at easing the heavy medical and welfare burden associated with the care of conjoined twins, which often requires specialised treatment and prolonged hospital attention.
AMPCUK, a registered charity and community organisation in the United Kingdom, said the intervention became necessary after members learned of the emotional and financial challenges confronting the mother, whose limited resources made it difficult to cope with the situation.
According to the group, the financial support will help offset urgent medical expenses, assist with ongoing treatment and provide basic welfare support for the mother and her children during this critical period.
Chairman of the organisation, Theo Okonkwo, described the gesture as a reflection of the group’s commitment to humanity and its enduring bond with its roots, noting that distance has not weakened the responsibility of the diaspora to support vulnerable members of the community at home.
In his remarks, the Secretary of the organisation, Henry Ejiogu Anaele, said the donation complements the efforts of other well-meaning individuals and groups, stressing that collective action remains vital in addressing humanitarian challenges.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to supporting healthcare, social welfare and community development initiatives, while calling on other stakeholders and well-meaning Nigerians to lend support to families facing similar medical challenges.
The donation has brought renewed hope to Mrs. Ndukanma, assuring her that she is not alone and strengthening prospects for improved medical care for her children.
