The Federation of Mbaise Media Professionals (FMMP) has appointed His Royal Majesty, Eze Chidume Okoro of Rehaboth Palace, Amano Obohia, as its Patron.

The investiture, held at the monarch’s palace, drew prominent media professionals from Mbaise, community leaders and stakeholders, who came together to honor the respected royal father in a ceremony marked by cultural pride and solidarity.

Eze Okoro, a seasoned traditional ruler and successful businessman, has served in several leadership positions including Deputy Chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Chairman of Owerri Zone Council of Traditional Rulers, and two-time Chairman of the Mbaise Council of Traditional Rulers. Beyond the throne, he is an international entrepreneur and employer of over 200 workers.

During the ceremony, speakers commended his leadership, hospitality and commitment to Mbaise’s development. FMMP President, Comrade Patrick Chinenye Mgbaja, described him as “a responsible Eze whose fatherly advice will guide the federation.” Pioneer President, Chief Pastor Christian Nwokocha, called for stronger ties between Mbaise and its neighbors, while Ori Martins urged the monarch to champion road infrastructure and development projects. Chief Sir Batty Kalakia emphasized the power of the media in uniting Mbaise leadership and pledged FMMP’s readiness to work with the royal father.

In his response, HRM Eze Chidume Okoro expressed gratitude for the recognition, noting the central role of journalists in society.

I am deeply happy that the crème de la crème of Mbaise journalists came to pay me homage. Journalists are vital—anybody ignoring them does so at their own risk. I humbly accept to be your patron and will support you in every possible way,” he said.

The monarch also reflected on his leadership journey, his contributions in agriculture, employment, education, health, and security, and assured of continued partnerships aimed at uplifting Mbaise through cultural diplomacy and developmental initiatives.

The event concluded with renewed commitment by FMMP and the traditional ruler to work together for the progress and unity of Mbaise land
