Sabina Chikere Dedicates Wakawaka Sports Award to Philip Shaibu, Edo Sports Community

The Executive Director, Sports Development and Operation, Edo State, Sabina Chikere has dedicated her prestigious Wakawaka Sports Award to the Director-General of the National Institute for Sports, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, in recognition of his unwavering support and trust in her capacity to drive the revival of sports in Edo State.

She praised Shaibu for playing a pivotal role in restoring Edo State’s lost glory in the national sports landscape. She noted that the state’s sporting fortunes had dwindled due to years of neglect, but witnessed a significant turnaround under Shibu’s leadership during the previous administration.

“The sports community in Edo owes a great deal of gratitude to H.E. Philip Shaibu. His vision and commitment helped bring Edo State back to the spotlight among top sporting states in Nigeria,” Chikere said.

She also commended the current administration under Governor Monday Okpebholo for continuing on the path of progress. According to her, the state government is taking bold steps to build on past achievements by exploring fresh strategies to improve all sectors of the sports ecosystem in Edo.

“The government is not resting. They’re determined to raise the bar by implementing sustainable development across every sporting discipline,” she added.

Chikere’s dedication of the award to both the sports leadership and the community underscores her commitment to the collective goal of sustaining excellence in Edo State sports.
