Mgbuisii/Umuokanne Archdeaconries Qualifies for Final of Ohaji/Egbema Anglican Diocese Football Competition

Mgbuisii Archdeaconry and their counterparts, Umuokanne Archdeaconry has emerged finalist of the 2024 edition of Ohaji/Egbema Anglican Diocese football competition.

In the semi finals matches played last Saturday at two different locations in the Diocese, Mgbuisii Archdeaconry emerged winners after walking over the Cathedral Archdeaconry while Umuokanne Archdeaconry defeated Umuchineke Archdeaconry 5-4 through penalty shoot out.

To qualify for the quarter finals of the competition, Umuchineke Archdeaconry humbled Obitti Archdeaconry while Umuokanne Archdeaconry thrashed Ohoba Archdeaconry.

The final and the second-placed matches would be played at a date yet to be fixed.

Speaking to the Editor Spokesman Newspapers, shortly after the match, the Sports Chaplain of the Diocese, Reved Can. Uzoma Uzochukwu expressed joy in the way and manner the competition has gone so far.

He said that for the past three years, the competition was put on hold untill this year when the Bishop of Ohaji/Egbema, Anglican Diocese, Rt. Revd Chidi Collins Oparaojiaku approved for the 2024 edition of the football competition.

Can. Uzochukwu said that the final of the competition would hold at a date that would soon be announced by the Bishop at the Cathedral.

He assured of some innovations that would be brought in to make the event a remarkable one.
