A member of the Players Union in the country, Austin Popo has penned an emotional tribute to Super Falcons goalkeeper, Bidemi Grace Ebunuoluwa Aluko-Olaseni, who passed away after an 8-year battle with cancer.

The tribute reads: “After I read the news of your death today on the social media, I was confused because you called some few days back to ask after me and you said you just call to check on me that it was quite a while you talked with me.

“I also asked you about your health, you told me you were fine. My immediate response was to start calling your two numbers because it was difficult to believe what I just read on the media. I never got any response. Then after about an hour, I missed a call from your number. When I called back I was still expecting to hear your voice but it was your husband that responded.

“I asked him where is Bidemi, he said you left us yesterday, that you said were tired and want to go and rest after a battle of about eight years with cancer. We took this picture after my first meeting with you at your place in Ibadan following the news of your illness, that should be 2021.

“We did our best to mobilize our members under the players Union to support you. We finally lost you. RIP BIDEMI ALUKO, former Super Falconets goalkeeper.”
