The people of Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala trooped out enmasse on Tuesday, 19th April 2022, as Hon. Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Ogbonna formally declares his intention to represent the constituency at the House of Representatives.
Ogbonna who used the opportunity to mark his birthday as well as make his intention known having seen his constituency being misrepresented at the Green Chambers.
Speaking earlier before his declaration, he said: “… Tuesday will be a great day in my life which is my birthday. I will be celebrating with men of goodwill thanking God for another special year.
“I will use it to tell the people of Aboh Mbaise my intention to represent them in the Federal House of Representatives.
“I did actually aspire four years ago but the negative forces which decided to take over the LGA played a major role to see that the voice of the public didn’t come to pass through their manipulation.
“Indeed, I won that election but the manipulation came from the then party that said they are the leading party but God used a messenger of hope, distinguish Senator Hope Uzodinma to save the people.
“Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala don’t feel represented. However, you don’t give people what you don’t have. There is another opportunity to correct the anomalies, that is why I am here.”
On what he intends to achieve if elected, Ogbonna promised to attract federal government programmes to his people while pledging to use sports as a tool to empower the youths.
“I will be coming from the point of strength. As an economist, I will be coming in in the position to advise the government and as a legislature.
“I will make laws that will create an enabling environment for the government to set up industries and small cycled production points that will help the youths.
“I will create an opportunity for the generation to come that Aboh Mbaise and Ngor Okpala will find a better and fair representative in the green chambers.
“Federal Government must have interest in sports because it’s an individual assessment that creates opportunity for the youths to excel.”
He went further to advise the FG to ensure more funds and adequate budget are made available for sports, noting that he will use his position to rehabilitate the sports centre in Aboh Mbaise.
“More budget and funding should go to the federal ministry of sports to enable them have better assessment, provision, opportunities for young men and women to show up their talents so that they can compete with their peers internationally that will bring in more foreign investment to Nigeria.
“I’m a Tennis and Golf player and if talents are been harnessed, Nigeria will be one of the best markets for football players in the world.
“I will do my best as a legislature to make laws that will create more enabling positions for the youths to have more access to their counterparts across the world.
“I want to thank our elder brother and statesman, Dr Pat Ekeji, who attracted that sports centre. During the attraction of the sports centre the place was equipped and also vandalised.
“When I come in as a legislature, I will make sure I use my contact and position to create an opportunity so that the sports centre will be functioning to allow young people use the facilities for preparation for sports events.
“I will put more attention in Ngor Okpala because it’s a place that is largely consumated with young people with a lot of energy. 2023 will be a turnaround for everyone in the area.” He concluded
