Triathlon is a sporting event like any other sporting events such as football,Basketball,Boxing,Handball,Table Tennis ,Athletics,Cycling ,Swimming amonst others. Similarly,the Game on the other hand,may not have enjoyed the relevant publicity to attract active participation like other sporting event.Be that as it may,On 4th December,2021 the Nigeria Police Force successfully organized the 1st IGP Triathlon Invitational Championship also known as Abuja 2021 in Collaboration with the Nigerian Triathlon Union together with Ministry of Sports and Youth Development and in Synergy with other Security and Safety Agencies . Earlier,there was a Two day intensive sensitization/Workshop at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peace Keeping Centre, Force Headquarters Abuja aimed at galvanizing support,elicit effective Collaboration of critical stakeholders and evolving strategies and framework for the successful hosting of the 1st IGP Invitational Triathlon Championship Abuja,2021.It also exposed participants drawn from amongst Stakeholders and Multi Agencies on the Rules and Regulations of Triathlon with a view to raising the awareness of the game and deep-rooting its practice in accordance with Triathlon Tenets.The 1st IGP Triathlon invitational Championship Abuja 2021 was a deliberate and conscious efforts of the Nigeria Police Force under the leadership of IGP Usman Alkali Baba to enhance Stakeholders and Multi Agencies collaborations and participation as a community policing tool ,for problem Solving and to midwife the process of raising a formidable National Triathlon Team for effective representations at Commonwealth ,All African Games and any other internationally organized games ,Olympic inclusive.
The 1st IGP Triathlon Invitational Championship Abuja 2021 which took place on 4/12/2021 saw participants in both and female category involved in 400 metres swimming competition and transiting to cycling in an organized and deliberate manner and covered a distance of 10km and transiting to a point of dropping their bike and embarking on 2.5km running which took them to the finishing line at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja.The Event afforded by the Nigeria Police Force through its Triathlon Association and Sports Department afforded Nigerians and the media on what the game is all about as many of them were involved in the route mapping and other Triathlon Processes.Since after the Event ,many stakeholders and Multi Agencies have been applauding the Nigeria Police Force on the great feat and pointing out that it lived up to its billing.Pocacov Self Discovery is all about raising the awareness and consciousness on the need for one to rise up from any occassion to discover himself or herself and be the champion despite any challenge or involvement in cultism and other vices for a greater tomorrow.
Indeed,the event may have come and gone but with significant memories left to behold such as the Self DISCOVERY of 9 year old Jibrin Yahaya who participated and had impressive finishing within the stipulated time ahead of some participants.Little Yahaya Jibrin Completed the swimming at the National stadium swimming pool,Completed biking and running and return to the finishing line at the Presidential bridge of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja within an impressive period of time ahead of some other participants while his elder brother Sadiq Yayaha 19 years came first in the male category.Sadiq is conversant with the game and has participated in ALL African games and other games in Egypt in the game of Triathlon were he came out victoriously.They are from Kano but under their father who is Coach Yahaya with sight challenges.Little Jibrin explained that he did
